  • Jeff SKI Kinsey · 11 months ago
I posted my video to the original blog comments as instructed; when should my video appear here?

Or, is there something else I must do?

  • hypeserver · 11 months ago
I think Nate has the best run-through and seems confident in what he's saying. He doesn't seem nervous, boring, and doesn't make a lot of hand motions which is good when giving a pitch.
  • avner ronen · 11 months ago
    Added your video
  • Steve Galea · 11 months ago
Even though I am in the running for this contest too, i'm #1 on the list here, I do think #3 Nate is also a good candidate. Nate and I can help Boxee out tremendously! :)
  • Steve Galea · 11 months ago
Oh, and fyi, I don't know Nate personally. I'm just completely honest and can say that another person is as good or better than me at something. haha

I just submitted my new one. I was having some youtube trouble.

I hope you guys think I would be a good aid to the boxee team, although Im sure everyone else is on here promoting themselves as well.

its exciting to help promote an application we all love.

Hi guys. I have a last minute entry for myself here. I'm kinda sick, so my voice is cracking i'm not going through puberty or anything! I'm 25 so I hope i'm passed that. Anyways, something about myself, I'm a normal guy, actually a chemist, who loves tech stuff, hacking things, and media content, so when boxee came out I was elated to say the least. I raved about it for months, went out and bought a apple TV solely to use boxee on it. And have been in love ever since. I'm by no mean a crazy power geek, but I'm as geeky as the next guy! Anyways I'd love to represent you guys at CES. So hopefully I can get this in on time.

Heres the link hopefully this works!

Very creative and smart. Love it.

I would vote for multiple people, but if only one, go Nate!
  • Andrew Hyde · 11 months ago
Jeremy Tanner can rock the conference.
  • Ef Rodriguez · 11 months ago
I voted for Jeremy Tanner (#14).

He's genuine, supersmart and makes any event explode with fruit flavor.
  • Adrian · 11 months ago
My vote would be #4 Patrick
  • Brad Feld · 11 months ago
#14 Tanner. Because he's the penguin.
  • Brandon · 11 months ago
Nate doesn't seem to have enough generalization to suit me. I like the time spent showing the application, but there is more to marketing than simply demonstrating your product.

By the way, Jeff, you are a user of boxee. You sound like you took part in the actual development.

Anyway, I don't mean to be too critical, but since I couldn't make the deadline, I thought I'd stop by and get my say. My vote is for #20 (Matt). He does a nice job presenting the product and presents a general overview of the program. The editing is by far the best of the 20 videos. It seems as though he knows what he's talking about and he says it in a clean, creative, and understandable way. A mention of the services that are integrated into boxee would have been nice, but the screen captures do show some of that.
  • Chris Kauza · 11 months ago
#14, Jeremy, is your man. You will not find a more enthusiastic and passionate persona for CES, than he!
  • Andrew · 11 months ago
Jeremy is awesome. I would vote for him - even over myself! Clear speaker, knows the product, excellent presentation skills, a stand-out favorite!
  • Kelly · 11 months ago
I liked #14 Jeremy, good presentation style, good product knowledge.
  • Steve Galea · 11 months ago
Dang, Jeremy's kickin ass. haha. Please vote for me guys and gals (#1 Steven). I know my video isn't that great but I would be really good at pitching the Good Word of Boxee.
  • Stepan · 11 months ago
My vote is for Jeremy (#14), he will never give you up, he will never let you down, never gonna run around and desert you
  • MiMi · 11 months ago
    #11, Jeff!

  • Gary Vaynerchuk · 11 months ago

    Get it done NATE!
  • Rohan · 11 months ago
I liked #15 Ravi. YOUR THE MAN RAVI!
  • Jon Staebell · 11 months ago
Top Ten Reasons to vote for #8: Jon

    10) He doesn't know how to post support messages for himself disguised as other people (you know who you are!)

    9) It would end all this nasty talk about age discrimination lawsuits and let us all get on with our lives

    8) If Jon doesn't go, there won't be anyone working the booth until past noon. I'm just sayin'....

    7) When I used to work the COMDEX trade show, I wore an IEEE-488 cable around my waist as a belt, which was the fashion at the time.

    6) Avner is a friend of his on Boxee

    5) They say that 47 is the new 37

    4) He has no problems with memory loss

    3) He has no problems with memory loss

    2) He can sit in the booth and yell at kids to get off of his lawn

And the #1 reason to vote for #8 Jon is:

    1) It's about time a middle-aged white man was put in a position of power in this country!
  • Rich · 11 months ago
    I vote for #7 Mark
  • Shireen · 11 months ago
I know Kyle (#13) personally, and you should vote for him because he is OBSESSED with Boxee! He won't use the TV or AppleTV for its original purposes anymore, just Boxeeboxeeboxee. He'd be a great spokesperson at CES because he already knows all there is to know about the program, and it's obvious that it's literally changed the way he uses his media. :)
  • RIch Reader · 11 months ago
Matt came across first as the person I would be most receptive to, though I liked Tony very much as well.
  • Kevin Menzie · 11 months ago
    #14, Jeremy, all the way!
  • tim · 11 months ago
what the hellyou all talking about. Jeff has this thing in the bag.He knows what he is talking about.
  • Jerry · 11 months ago
My vote currently goes to #4 Patrick because he explains Boxee in layman's terms in a confident way. He kind of loses the flow at some point when he just starts listing all of the services, though. Some more prose like at the start would be great. #3 Nate isn't a bad talker either but he fails to introduce Boxee. Instead of explaining the very essential basics ("Boxee is...") he jumps right into explaining some screen elements assuming the viewer already knows what Boxee does. Nothing that can't be worked out, though, since his style of presentation is also confident.
  • James · 11 months ago
    No. 15 is the best...
  • David Clements · 11 months ago
    #14 Definitely!! Go Jeremy go.
  • Harleen · 11 months ago
    #15 RAVI! :)
  • Luke · 11 months ago
Most did very well. A few missed the mark. I chose Jeff because he presented himself the best. Has a commanding voice and presence and seems to really know a lot about the product.
  • Kyle Murphey · 11 months ago
Vote for Melody, she is a total hottie, and she knows what she is talking about too. I wish I could date her... oh wait I am!
  • Krista Neher · 11 months ago
I vote for #14 Jeremy Tanner because I want to party with him at CES.... WE NEED THE PENGUIN THERE!!!!!!!!!
  • designdream · 11 months ago
Come on guys! Show support via comments pweeeese.

I'm sorry I was late.. There is no need for me to get into the excuses + excuses on here. I assure you my tardiness was justifiable.
  • Lucretia Pruitt · 11 months ago
If you don't go with Jeremy (#14) you're doing yourself a disservice... at the recent Thin Air Summit (thinairsummit.com) his session was so full that it was more than Standing Room Only - there were people in the hallway trying to see in.

Jeremy has a way of making people not only take notice, but to buy in as well. If I could afford him, I'd hire him myself.

Hope you guys have a rockin' CES - and hope you take him along with you to see for yourselves.

Put me in as voting for #14

  • paul · 11 months ago
i think jeremy (#14) should go to CES, and not just because he is a professional schmoozer and/or badge burglar. He's got moxie. Also, i know for a fact he can hold his booze.
  • Joe Gudac · 11 months ago
I'd vote, but I have been waiting over 6 weeks for an invite.!!!!!!!!!
  • avner ronen · 11 months ago
i sent you an invite, but it seems you already have a user 'http://app.boxee.tv/go/gudac'
  • Seth · 11 months ago
    #14 is
  • Damian R · 11 months ago
    #14 all the way
  • Clint · 11 months ago
I'm also rooting for #4 - Patrick. Excellent presentation, plus he's very personable. I'm sold!
  • micah · 11 months ago
Competitions like this always kill me because it becomes a popularity contest. If one is looking for the qualities of a strong spokesperson, then #14 jeremy seems to have the ability to truly engage people on Boxee (which is just rad!)
  • avner ronen · 11 months ago
you make a good point. this is not about who has more friends that will vote for him, it's about who could be the best addition to team-boxee at the show.

we thought it is a good idea to give users/readers to tell us who they see as the best, but we will not necessarily pick those who got most votes
  • Ravi · 11 months ago
I had to vote for myself (#15), but if I had a 2nd-place vote, it'd probably go to Patrick (#4). I think there are a lot of great entries and so best of luck to all!
  • J · 11 months ago
    #15 FTW
  • Kris · 11 months ago
    Def #14
  • Darla · 11 months ago
I voted for Kyle # 13, he knows boxee extremely well and he will be able to answer any questions the guest may have at the CES show in Los Vegas. He will definitely be an asset
    to the boxee team.
  • Mary · 11 months ago
I think #1 was the best. Has nothing to do with the fact that he is my best friend...no...he is just over all the best...:)
    so..my vote is for #1!
  • TheMacMommy · 11 months ago
Vote for #14 Jeremy Tanner. He's passionate, enthusiastic, and presents the product very well. Clean, professional, calm and realistic with lots of charisma. Watching his presentation makes me want to use Boxee even more now. The screencast was great. Now picture him presenting in person. He obviously has command over demonstrating the service. Jeremy has skills and isn't afraid to use them. (I've seen in him action elsewhere.) He would be an asset to your team and help you accomplish your goals.

I'm a Mom. I would know. You should listen to your Motherboard.
    :)

    Patrick FOR THE WIN!
He sounds enthusiastic and into it, most of the others sound dull and boring, They want the trip! Patrick wants to go to sell boxee! He is your MAN. He also has ALOT of experience in camera work, podcasting editing and more which may come in handy!
    vote #4
  • hello · 11 months ago
Kyle knows everything, and anything about boxee. Furthermore, he is personable and very intelligent. VOTE 13.
  • Melody Akhtari · 11 months ago
Seriously guys! It looks like a monkey, am I right?

Anyway, looks like a battlefield around here. All I know is that I'd be an excellent pick to go to CES to promote the heck outta Boxee. I know the app inside and out (despite having two x chromosomes, imagine that!), and I'm really sociable so I can subtly pull people in without making them feel pressured. I do it all the time ;)

Good luck to everyone else, too! Night.
  • Drew Baumann · 11 months ago
The thing I seem to notice in these videos is that theyre more instructions than pitches.
As my Russian friend put it, "The other guys who are winning at the moment were actually showing how Boxee works... On the other hand, you gave much more info about it. Let's see who wins - intellectuals who like a good product or dummies who wanna see how to push the buttons"

And yep, its a popularity contest.

Im just excited that I am even being given the chance. Very cool.

  • Duncanyoyo1 · 11 months ago
    I think patrick ( #4 ) is the best, without a doubt.
  • Andreas Setterlind · 11 months ago
I vote for Drew and Melody to go, as a guy and gal tag teaming :)

Others I also liked, in this top to bottom order:
    #6 Drew
    #16 Melody
    #1 Erik
    #4 Patrik
    #19 Will
    #15 Ravi
    #13 Kyle

Judging by the vote result so far I think a few are cheating :(

PS! Hope you guys remember to push the open source development point ;)
  • footagehead · 11 months ago
Hey - the Boxee team is going to CES to promote itself and attract support so it can grow, and improve, not to see how many friends it can get online to vote.
I couldn't believe some of the numbers I saw after I voted. Get real, there is something at stake here for Boxee. Not helping to send your BF to Las Vegas.

Vote for who best presents Boxee for all its attributes to the widest audience.

    IMHO its Melody !
  • Andreas Setterlind · 11 months ago
FYI; Avner is friends will all Boxee users by default, hehe :P
  • Ricard Andorinho · 11 months ago
    vote for Jeff #17

I prefer Tung's. Looks off the cuff, engaging and quick. I mean the planning and everything is great, but someones got to have charisma off the muscle, not completely planned out at these events.
  • Jon Staebell · 11 months ago

I originally thought it was bogus for persons like Jeremy with 1500+ twitter followers and multiple calls out for votes to use his power to steal the votes - regardless if he was the best or if his votes are coming from people that even care about Boxee.

But I changed my mind, I think if Boxee can get persons with some kind of following to help promote them, than that is a good thing. Personally my concern would be does that person really have helping Boxee in the forefront or their own agenda in self-promotion?

Anyways, I voted for #19 Will, and not myself.
  • jay · 11 months ago
In my opinion and experience in a sales i believe Patrick (#4) is the best of the line up of these videos.
  • xain09 · 11 months ago
    Jeremy is the man!
  • Fred Leist · 11 months ago
I vote for Jeff #11. I like the way he was thorough in describing the capabilities of boxee.
  • Drew Baumann · 11 months ago
Thanks! If choosen I will definitely remember open source development. It is the key to keeping it fresh, fun, and free.
  • Darla · 11 months ago
I think Melody #16 and Kyle #13 would make a great team. Oh yes they are a team, they've
    known each other for years.
  • Lee · 11 months ago
This was an excellent video presentation. Drew was knowledgeable about Boxee, and was able to explain how it works in a way that I easily understood, and made me want to try the application. He also spoke very naturally, enthusiastically and articulately. Very well done.

    Thanks.

Matt (#20) I can personally vouch for. He knows Boxee as well as it can be known, just like most of the other applicants. However, what sets him apart is his true ability to connect. When he is in front of an audience (which is much different than posting a video), he won't freeze or stutter. He can flawlessly present a great amount of information in a short period of time to a group, or slow it down and take his time with a single person. Either way, he can figure out what the people are looking for and cater to their personalities.
